Monday Night TV: Gossip Girl

OMFG!!!

Here we go again. Let's just shoot straight to what everyone's talking about....Serena killed someone!!! Who??? What I like about that scene is the panic you feel coming from Serena. You feel that she is trapped and there is no way out even before she says the words. However, if the episodes keep ending like this I may have to lobby that it is cruel and unusual torture that we only get one episode a week.

Jenny was featured more prominately in this episode. Which usually makes me roll my eyes. However, I accepted it. Let's try groveling to your family Little J. I would enjoy seeing that.

Speaking of the Humphreys, how cute were Lily and Rufus? I love his face when he sees her in the wedding gown. It cuts at the heart. Makes me wonder if Lily will actually marry Bart or if she'll be having an affair with Rufus she is married. These two obviously still love each other. It's obvious from their converstaions in the episode that they have the deep connection between two people who have known each other forever.

The Bass men were absent, but that didn't stop Chuck from surprising everyone by being there for his future step-siblings. He keeps tabs on Serena and supports Eric during his outing. Although I missed the snark that only Chuck can bring to an episode, his presence was still felt.

Speaking of Eric he seemed to really mature in this episode. He dealt being outed at the dinner table with poise (still not sure if it was actually an accident by G or not). He was also very brave and faced off against his pig of a boyfriend (Asher) in front of everyone and gave Blair permission to out him to Gossip Girl and the entire world. These actions are a good time for me to make a contrast. When Asher asks Jenny to lie for him and keep his secret she follows along blindly and lies for him even though he offers her no sign of friendship or respect in return. Eric on the other hand stands up to him and does what needs to be done even though it will cost him. I find it interesting in this instance that the person with the most to lose was the strongest.

Blair's minor role in the whole drama was really worth it. I loved where she tells Asher that she won't out him because it would involve someone she cared about. The storyline paralled Poison Ivy when Blair outs Serena as an Ostroff Cetner patient when it's really Eric. Maybe trying to make amends for early actions taken by her character???

Georgina is a bitch and let's hope she sticks around. She is deliciously evil and seems to have an almost obsession with Serena. The whole episode it was if she was saying, 'If I can't have you, no one else will'. The video that was illuded to briefly in the episode obvious depicts some sort of sex tape. Humiliating, but not worth the panic that Serena is putting forth into keeping it a secret from everyone. How did the events go from sex tape to murder?

This was a great episode. So seriously seven more days?????

Georgie is sooo deliviously evil, and I too hope she sticks around. What a wonderful episode, minus the lack of Chuck!

Yeah, having no Chuck in the episode did suck. I noticed a lack of humor in the episode too, a coincidence? I think not.

GAAAH I love gossip girl so much. I bitch about the characters (georgina, jenny, anyone?) but honestly they all make the show rock. I love the drama!

I would say that I complain about Jenny a lot, definately. I love Georgina, even though she is evil. I wouldn't change a thing about the show when everything is said and done. (Except, Chuck wouldn't have been at a bachelor's party/vactation for the entire episode.

I watched Gossip Girl for the first time tonight, after reading an interview with Michelle Trachtenberg about how she loves playing the bad girl.

I might watch next week, too (if I remember, lol).

I only started watching Gossip Girl recently, but it's addictive. Michele Trachtenberg is one of my favorite things about this show. I am so glad she got the part because I read it was supposed to be Mischa Barton and I much perfer Michele.

ITA with everything you said.

Rufus/Lily definitely have a strong connection with each other, and always will, so it'll be interesting to see how that relationship plays out post-Van der Bass marriage.

And I love your comparison of the Eric/Asher and Jenny/Asher situation. And you're right, Eric is so much stronger than Jenny is. Eric actually stood up for himself and didn't compromise his morals even if it cost him everything. Whereas Jenny lied, stole, submitted to Asher, discarded her morals, and used people so that she wouldn't have to lose anything she really wanted (popularity).

I wonder if the Eric/Jenny friendship is pretty much over right now, too? She obviously dropped him as soon as she got new friends, spoke down to him when she thought he liked her, and really didn't care about his feelings at all (when they asked if Eric was telling the truth, she just denied). It's disgusting how much Jenny was willing to give up in order to be a socialite (respect/trust of her dad, genuine people who care about her, etc etc). I'm so glad that she''s finally been branded a lier... they should have known after she stole that dress.

Yes, I loved that Blair was willing to lose to Jenny in order to keep Eric's secret. Blair may be a bitch (and one we love) but she does care about the people who are close to her and will chose them over popularity (unlike someone else *cough*JENNY*cough*)

Hehe, yes Georgina is so deliciously evil ... and it's so great. She definitely has some sort of obsession with Serena, which definitely makes her sound psychotic and stalker-like. But I love the drama and I'd love to know how things went from sex --> murder.

I think that the reason that Blair can pull off being Queen B in that world is that she controls the girls rather than them controlling her. Jenny was too eager to please where as everyone else is eager to please Blair. Blair knows how to keep them in line. She's definately a leader and a much stronger person than Jenny is.
